Grain Finished Beef

We have grain finished beef. We raise natural pesticide free barley on our ranch. Each year we select a small number of steers for grain finishing. While raising them on natural grass diet, we supplement the diet with  a small amount of our naturally grown barley to enhance the flavor of the beef. We only add a very small amount of grain (about 10%) to the diet during the last 90 days of growth. We have found that this combination of grass and small amount of grain gives superior marbling for greater flavor and tenderness while maintaining the nutritional value of natural grass fed beef.
